Learning stages
The Wing is probably the most effective vehicle for approaching foiling. The Wing has revolutionized the often slow and difficult learning processes of hydrofoiling, such as Kitefoil and WindsurfFoil. It allows practitioners to comfortably ride a hydrofoil, often in just 3 sessions. The main learning stages of Wingfoil are:
1st - Preparation and correct choice of equipment;
2nd - Handling the wing, generating power and direction with the Wing;
3rd - First rides on the board, without the hydrofoil;
4th - Being able to control the direction and speed of the board;
5th - Executing turns;
6th - Introduction to the hydrofoil;
7th - Safety techniques and basic fundamentals;
8th - First flights;
9th - Proper flight control;
10th - You’re done. Enjoy your independence as a foiler.

How long do i need to learn Wingfoil?
Frequently, the purpose of the wing is to quickly introduce the practitioner to the hydrofoil discipline. This is typically a process of 3 to 4 sessions (6 to 8 hours), where the first session focuses on learning to handle the wing and basic Wingsurfing (on a board without a hydrofoil). The second and third sessions are usually on a board with a hydrofoil. This fast introduction to hydrofoiling makes it much more accessible compared to the slower learning processes of hydrofoiling on other boards, such as kitefoil and windfoil, which is why this discipline is so popular and relevant in the world of water sports. Once again, the Óbidos Lagoon and the Lagoon Sailing School are unbeatable locations for learning and practicing this sport, where protected waters, consistent wind, and the teaching staff are key elements for rapid progress.
